Lavinia Stamps Challenge 7 - Anything Goes

Hi Everyone

Another month has gone by and it reminds me of when I was young and my Nan said "time goes so quickly as you get older".  I thought it was so funny to say "Don't be silly, time is time".  Well I know now exactly what she meant - I cannot believe it is August already - did anyone else see where July went?

So, another month and another challenge for Lavinia Stamps - Anything Goes.  What a great challenge.  Here is my design.

For the focus image I used the lovely Moon Fairy, this has got to be one of the loveliest Lavinia Stamps ever.  For the background I used "Fairy Words", slender mushrooms and Stars 2.  I used Distress Inks, barn door, ripe persimmon and mustard seed.  I swiped over with versamark and embossed with clear powder.  I masked the moon and used the same colour DI's for the Moon Fairy.  I did not emboss this as I wanted a little bit of a contrast.

Remember the prize for winning the challenge is £40 (yes £40) of Lavinia Stamps and the only difficulty you will have is deciding which of the beautiful stamps you simply cannot live without!

So pop on over to the Lavinia Challenge blog and join in today.

Thanks for looking. Kx

Never Too Old for Cupcake!

Oh how true!

First of all, a very big welcome to my new followers and also a huge thanks to everyone for their lovely comments, it really makes me feel good when you take the trouble to leave me a message.

Not sure about anyone else but this weather has really not helped the card making.  When I get home from work I am too tired and at the weekend I have too much to catch up on but needs must and here is a card I made one of my work colleagues.

I confess I did do this one in a bit of a rush as I had to go to Birkenhead for a few days and needed the card the next day but everyone at work seemed to like it.  I used the Lili of the Valley image the "ribbon" was also one of their stamps which I stamped on patterned paper (the same as the bunting).  The background was actually bright pink but no matter how many pictures I took it really did not come out looking pink but you get the idea!.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  Kx

70th Birthday card

Hi Everyone

Wow what a scorcher this weekend.  Hope you had a good one and managed not to get burnt in the sun.

Today I am posting a birthday card I made for my Mum's 70th.  She loves "sweet" images and this one is no exception.

I made this one using oval dies using both card and paper which I put together to make a flower shape.  I added quite a few embellishments and of course coloured the image with my copic markers.  The greeting is computer generated.  The lilac feather added a bit of "softness" and I was really pleased with the result.  What do you think?

Have a good week.

Retirement by the Sea

Hi Everyone - wow what a wonderful weekend we are having; the weather is beautiful and I am told the sport has been good too.

Today I have a Retirement card to show you.  Two very good friends of mine, John and Shirley have just retired and are moving to a lovely bungalow at the coast.  It is in such a lovely spot, ten minutes from the sea and even closer to the Military canal and local town.  I should have made this one earlier but my holiday got in the way so it will be winging its way to them tomorrow.

Unfortunately the photo (as usual) does not do it justice.  The blue paper on the front of the card is a much nicer blue that this shows.  Apart from the greetings these stamps are all from the same set; Kanban Crafts and I bought them as I thought they would make a good "man" card.  I shall definitely be using them again.  Just peeking through from the inside is an anchor which I stamped, embossed and cut out to make it a bit more interesting.

Hope you have a good week. Kx

Challenge 5 - Use A Punch or Die Shapes

Hi All

Can you believe it - July already - and as it is the first of the month there is a new Challenge over at Lavinia Stamps.  There is a huge prize of £40 worth of Lavinia Stamps and this month's challenge is Use a Punch or Die Shapes so pop along and join in.  Here is my sample:

For this card I used Hop Skip & Jump Silhouette as the main image, such a lovely versatile stamp.  I stamped and embossed this and mounted on black card to give added definition.  I then used the stamp "vine" (one of my absolute favourites as you can use all or part of the stamp) using Black versafine again.  I mounted this on black again before mounting on my original white card.  For this card I have used both a die and a punch.  The flowers are from Woodware Multiflower Xmas punch and the leaves are a Crealies Die CLCSII.  I added stickles to the fairy wings and a small sentiment to complete.  I love black and white cards - don't you?

Remember to join in the Challenge and good luck! Kx

Bright and Beautiful

Hi Everyone

Apologies for the absence but I have been unable to blog due to a technical hitch which only affected my computer!!  Something had to be deleted and hey presto I am back again.  Have also been on holiday to Italy.  Visited Turin, Florence, Bologna and Parma.  Even managed to be there when they had a mild earthquake.  It was so hot there; started off around 30 degrees and soon advanced to 42 degrees.  I bet you will be surprised to know I am pleased to be back enjoying 18 degrees!

So here is a card I made a few weeks ago.

This was inspired by my best mate Eileen; her beautiful work can be seen here.

For the background I used two of Ryn's stamps, they are wonderful to use and when used appear so lifelike they are amazing.  I used Distress Inks for the background and pan pastels for the flowers.  Using a white Posca pen to highlight the flowers (and water droplets) is very effective.

Hope you enjoy the week and fingers crossed I will be back soon. Kx

Lavinia Stamps Challenge - Lovely Lavender

Hi Everyone and it is that time of month again.  Yes the fantastic challenge over at Lavinia Stamps Challenge Blog

This month the Challenge is "Lovely Lavender"  Here is my example:

For this card I used a patterned paper to give me a slightly textured background.  I stamped on top with the main image - Fairy Wish.  I used Willow for the top of the image with lavender and Vine at the bottom.  I highlighted the flowers on the stem with a white posca pen.  To give the image a bit of a lift I did a bit of layering then added random stars around the edge of the base card.

I hope you join in the Challenge as there is the fantastic prize of £40 worth of the wonderful Lavinia Stamps - go on ... you know you want to! Kx
